July 5, 2024 - Giving RV Rides to Relatives

The plan was to fly over to Carroll County Airport this morning and give rides to a young relative who is in the Civil Air Patrol and is interested in flying.  But, as always, the weather intervened.  I knew the sky was clear over Carroll County, only 34 nm away from Essex Skypark.  But there was a low broken layer over Baltimore.  I couldn't just climb through a hole to get on top because of the BWI Class B airspace; I had to stay below 1,500 feet.  I was just barely able to make it under 1,500 feet.

And just like the weather reports said, the layer started breaking up as soon as I got on the west side of Baltimore.

On downwind at Carroll County Airport (KDMW).

Cadence in front of the RV.  We had a nice flight.  I showed here all the things an RV can do, and she had fun flying it around.  A future pilot?  Hope so.

Then I took Cadence's Mom, Diana, up for a ride, which she wasn't expecting but enjoyed very much.

Circling over Diana's house.

I showed Diana the Baltimore Raven's headquarters and team practice facility.

Heading back to Essex Skypark.  As you can see, the broken layer is gone; not a cloud in the sky.

Looking at what's left of the Key Bridge.  They finally removed the container ship that ran into the bridge and blocked entrance to the port.
